William W. Wolfe

William W. Wolfe, 70, of Galion went home to be with Jesus late Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his residence. He was diagnosed with kidney failure over 10 years ago.

Bill was born on February 24, 1948 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the youngest son of the late Clarence W. and Lois E. (Hess) Wolfe. Bill was raised in Washington, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, with a brief time in Idaho. He attended Washington High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam. Mutual friends introduced him to Dolores (Hoover) Freeman. They were married on April 6, 1979 and made their home in Galion.

Bill worked in construction in North Central Ohio and spent time in window cleaning service and foundry work. He had a passion for gardening and could often be found just staring at his handiwork “watching it grow.” He loved sports, rooting for all the Pittsburgh teams, especially his beloved Steelers. He enjoyed the company of many dogs over the years and always had a taste for Pep-O-Mint LifeSavers. His biggest passion was his family. He loved spending time with his daughters, watching them grow up and looked forward to family gatherings with Christmas being his favorite. He will be remembered for his intelligence and a bit of a stubborn streak.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dolores Wolfe; daughters, Heather (Amanda) Wolfe, Lisa Lamb (fiancé Mike Wilson), and Sheila (Ronnie) Amore; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren with one expected. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by son, Shawn Freeman; his stillborn twin sister; and five brothers, Charles, Robert, Jim, Clarence “Chuck”, and George Wolfe.

Bill’s family will gather for his memorial service at Grace Point, 683 Portland Way North in Galion on Friday, April 27 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Walter officiating. They will receive friends prior to the service from 10-10:55 am and the service will conclude with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard and Galion-Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Those wishing to make donations in Bill’s memory are asked to make them payable to Grace Point, the Humane Society Serving Crawford County, or Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio. They can be given at the services or mailed to Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on Bill’s Tribute Wall.
