Marsha Renee Shumaker, 62, died peacefully, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Signature Healthcare of Galion following a brief battle with cancer.



She was born March 10, 1955 in Bucyrus to Lloyd D. Daiber who resides in Bucyrus and Bonnie L. (Cox) Daiber who preceded her in death. Marsha graduated from Wynford High School and attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College for a couple years. She enjoyed secretarial work and spent a couple of years working for Attorney, Stanley Flegm and nine years at Transco. Marsha also babysat, was active as a Watkins Products Sales Representative which kept her busy for 17 years and she more recently worked for both Bucyrus and Wynford schools as a teacher’s aide.



At a young age, Marsha gave her heart to God and how fitting He introduce her to Rodney Shumaker at a church event. They married April 25, 1987 and he survives. Marsha has always led a Christ centered life and enjoyed putting others ahead of herself. She was raised in the Bucyrus Nazarene Church where she sang in the choir, taught classes and was missionary president for several years. For the past 15 plus years has been an actively involved member of the Kaler Ave. Church of Christ in Christian Union where she taught Sunday School, played piano, directed VBS and the teens for the past few years.



Marsha placed her family second only to God. She sewed and crocheted items for them, enjoyed working with Rodney in their vegetable garden which led to hours of canning and she was active in anything her sons and granddaughter did, particularly serving on the Wynford PTO board for a number of years.



Along with her dad and loving husband, Marsha is survived by two sons, Andy Shumaker of Lexington and Donald Shumaker of Heidelberg, Germany; one granddaughter, Allyiah Thomas; two brothers, Gary (Rochelle) Daiber of Bucyrus and Rick (Linda) Daiber of Galion as well as nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jennie Thomas.



Her family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Wise Funeral Service. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Kaler Ave. Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastors George Lore, Jr. and Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.



Memorial contributions can be made payable to 3CU Building fund. Gifts will be accepted at the funeral home and at the church on the morning of her funeral.
