Elaine M. Spengler

Elaine M. Spengler, 89, of Bucyrus died peacefully Monday morning, July 17, 2017 after a brief illness and years of failing health.



She was born August 30, 1927 in Wauseon, the youngest child and only daughter of Jay and Nellie (Leu) Somers. She grew up in Tedrow, Fulton County, Ohio, moved to Bucyrus with her young family in the 1960s, and retired from United Telephone after 36 years with the phone company. She’ll be remembered for her independent and strong will and love for flowers and birds. She enjoyed being with her family, reunions with co-workers, and worshiping at Calvary Baptist Church.



Elaine is survived by two children, Scott Spengler (Sharon Roush) of Nevada and Julie Eldridge of Bucyrus; four grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Verl Somers.



At Elaine’s request, she will be laid to rest privately in Tedrow Cemetery. She asked that memorial gifts be made payable to Calvary Baptist Church and given through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on her Tribute Wall.
