Helping families through the funeral process can be a very rewarding experience. There tends to be a void when the loss of a loved one occurs. Through the arrangement, the visitation, and the funeral process, we see families change and begin to heal with every encounter. Once the funeral ends however, a new and sometimes difficult process begins. This is why we feel that aftercare is such an important tool in continuing though the grieving process.

Transitions

"Transitions," our monthly care letter program has received a lot of positive feedback. These care letters run for thirteen months, with each edition unique in its explanation of the grieving process. We feel the advantage of these letters is that your family can read them whenever you may have questions or uneasy feelings in regard to the loss of your loved one.

There are other resources at the funeral home that your family may wish to use including a selection of books, videos, and brochures. If what your family is looking for is unavailable, we will do our best to see that you get what you need.

We also receive calls periodically from people looking for support groups. In Crawford County there support groups presented by HomeCare Matters Home Health & Hospice located in Galion, and are free of charge.

Year-Round Support Group

HomeCare Matters holds on ongoing adult support group the first and third Mondays on each month at 6:00 pm at their office located at 352 South Street in Galion.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.

GriefShare meets on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. at First Alliance Church, 1955 Hopley Avenue, Bucyrus. For more information, whether your loss is recent or not, call Dexter & Helen Rossman at 419-468-4495.

Individual Counseling

Occasionally, families opt for individualized communication or counseling. Janine Miller, MA, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in Grief, Loss, and Life Transition. These aftercare tools are available for anyone in need of them. Just because the funeral ends does not mean that our service to your family has ended.
