James E. Knodell, 67, of North Canton and a former resident of Bucyrus, died Sunday, December 6 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

He was born October 18, 1942 in Bucyrus to the late Gaylord "Dick" Knodell and Doris (Laipply) McAdams. Jim was a 1960 graduate of North Robinson High School. He worked at Timken in Bucyrus until 1983 and then was transferred to the plant in Canton from which he retired following 35 years of employment.

Before moving to Canton, Jim attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed coaching sports; was a big fan of the Browns, Buckeyes, Indians and Cavaliers; and enjoyed working out at Bally's.

He is survived by three children, Jacquilyn (Knodell) Shell of Crestline, Shawn Knodell and wife Michelle of Fort Jennings and Kris Knodell and wife Shelley of Delaware; five grandchildren, Jordan Shell, Madison Knodell, Elijah Knodell, Kelsey Knodell and McKenzie Knodell; one brother, Larry Knodell; a half brother, Richard Knodell; two half sisters, Lois Smith and husband Jim and Lori Watson; his stepmother, Patti Lutz of Bucyrus; a very special friend, Heidi Schifer; two close friends, Cindy and Traci Wetterau; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his stepfather, Arden McAdams and a niece, Lori Knodell.

Jim enjoyed doing many things in life but most importantly was the time spent with his grandchildren and watching them participate in their activities and events.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 9 at Wise Funeral Service where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Dan Rebon officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shawn Knodell for the benefit of a family memorial. Those contributions may be given through the funeral home.
