Gerald
Hoover, 75, of Bucyrus, died Wednesday, December 30 at AlterCare.
Mr. Hoover was
born June 14, 1934 in Dola to the late Clifford Darl and Helen Martha
(Lahr) Hoover. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1952, served
in the United States Army, and on May 26, 1957 was married to Peggy
(Butt) Hoover.
In addition
to his wife of 52 years, Mr. Hoover is survived by his children,
Garth (Robin) Hoover of Bucyrus, Vernon Hoover of Bucyrus, and Sheila
Coffman of Crestline; grandchildren, Andrea and Michael Bennyhoff,
Danielle, Stephen, and Nathan Coffman, Nathanial and Hannah Hoover;
step grandchildren, Ronald and Pamela Bayes, and Robert Saccamono;
and brother, Douglas (Judy) Hoover of Bucyrus.
Mr. Hoover was
a lifelong farmer and farm bureau member and later worked for and
retired from Country Star. He was an active member, trustee, and
Sunday School teacher at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Gerald
enjoyed farming, watching his grandchildren in their activities,
and helping his fellow friend. He was an avid OSU fan. Gerald loved
the Lord and sang his praises. He also enjoyed telling jokes and
loved to laugh.
A memorial service
will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Noon at Mt. Zion UMC.
Friends may call from 10 AM until 12 PM. Pastor Sandra Snode will
officiate. A private committal of ashes will take place at a later
date. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home
to Mt. Zion UMC.
