Lewis
E. Hocker, 91, of Galion, died Tuesday morning, March 9 at Village
Care Center in Galion.
He was born
in Galion to the late Walter G. and Beatrice (Redding) Hocker. Lewis
was a 1936 graduate of Galion High School. From 1941-1945, Lewis
served as a medic in the U.S. Army. On October 6, 1946, he married
Martha G. Beach who survives.
Lewis was a
lifelong area resident and worked at Perfection Steel Body until
retirement. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved watching
the different species of birds and formerly bowled in the senior
league for many years at Suburban Lanes.
In addition
to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by three children, Jacquelyn
S. Hocker-Vigil and husband Roberto of Questa, New Mexico, Janis
Hocker of Saint Clair, Pennsylvania, and Jerry Hocker and wife Chris
of Columbus; four grandchildren, Brennen Hocker, Jaimi Hocker, Jeremy
Hocker and Antonio Vigil; one great grandson, Isiah J. Lloyd; eight
nieces and two nephews. Lewis is preceded in death by a sister,
Berniece Balliett.
Friends may
call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at Wise Funeral Service in
Bucyrus, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with
Rev. Samuel J. Buehrer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the
donor's choice through the funeral home.
