Delza M. Fannin, 83, of Bucyrus, died Sunday, February 21 at Odyssey House in Columbus.

She was born June 15, 1926, in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late John and Pearl Ivory (McClain) Ruckel. She attended school in Kentucky and on November 6, 1948 she married John M. Fannin who preceded her in death on February 9, 1978. While in Kentucky, Delza was called to reach others from the altar, preaching at various churches. Moving to Bucyrus in 1955, she worked at North Electric for 33 years until retiring in the mid 1980's. Delza also continued teaching others about God by conducting church services at Fairview Manor and Heartland for a couple of years.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bucyrus and loved being part of the Primetimers at the church. She and others from the church also went on Work & Witness mission trips, traveling to Canada, The Bahamas and Honduras. Delza enjoyed quilting, crocheting and even some embroidering. She also gardened, camped and fished when time allowed and volunteered at Bucyrus Community Hospital and the Crawford County Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Grace Wise of Dunn, North Carolina; four children, Karen Fay Bradshaw of Smithville, North Carolina, Helena Sue Kalb and husband Jonathon of Crestline, Donald Eugene Fannin and wife Cyndi of Bucyrus and Paul M. Fannin of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Beth Bradshaw, Charlie Bradshaw, Erica (Shawn) Jury, Tina (Richard) Meyer, Donnel (Brian) Weaver, Trent Fannin, Ty Fannin, and Tad Fannin; three step-grandchildren, Zachary Ferguson, Lucas Ferguson and Noah Ferguson; seven great grandchildren, Clay, Jackie, Cooper, Adrienne, Olivia, Jacob and Braylin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delza is preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, Walter, Floyd, Harold, and Harvey Ruckel and three sisters, Ella Moore, Beulah Heaberlin and Lorena McJunkin.

Friends may call anytime after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23 at Wise Funeral Service. Her family will receive friends from 6-9 that evening and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Earl Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford County Memory Gardens. Family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church or American Heart Association through the funeral home.
