Delza
M. Fannin, 83, of Bucyrus, died Sunday, February 21 at Odyssey House
in Columbus.
She was born
June 15, 1926, in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late John and Pearl
Ivory (McClain) Ruckel. She attended school in Kentucky and on November
6, 1948 she married John M. Fannin who preceded her in death on
February 9, 1978. While in Kentucky, Delza was called to reach others
from the altar, preaching at various churches. Moving to Bucyrus
in 1955, she worked at North Electric for 33 years until retiring
in the mid 1980's. Delza also continued teaching others about God
by conducting church services at Fairview Manor and Heartland for
a couple of years.
She was a member
of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bucyrus and loved being part
of the Primetimers at the church. She and others from the church
also went on Work & Witness mission trips, traveling to Canada,
The Bahamas and Honduras. Delza enjoyed quilting, crocheting and
even some embroidering. She also gardened, camped and fished when
time allowed and volunteered at Bucyrus Community Hospital and the
Crawford County Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years.
She is survived
by one sister, Grace Wise of Dunn, North Carolina; four children,
Karen Fay Bradshaw of Smithville, North Carolina, Helena Sue Kalb
and husband Jonathon of Crestline, Donald Eugene Fannin and wife
Cyndi of Bucyrus and Paul M. Fannin of Columbus; eight grandchildren,
Beth Bradshaw, Charlie Bradshaw, Erica (Shawn) Jury, Tina (Richard)
Meyer, Donnel (Brian) Weaver, Trent Fannin, Ty Fannin, and Tad Fannin;
three step-grandchildren, Zachary Ferguson, Lucas Ferguson and Noah
Ferguson; seven great grandchildren, Clay, Jackie, Cooper, Adrienne,
Olivia, Jacob and Braylin; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition
to her parents and husband, Delza is preceded in death by five brothers,
Leo, Walter, Floyd, Harold, and Harvey Ruckel and three sisters,
Ella Moore, Beulah Heaberlin and Lorena McJunkin.
Friends may
call anytime after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23 at Wise Funeral
Service. Her family will receive friends from 6-9 that evening and
funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home with Pastor Earl Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at
Crawford County Memory Gardens. Family request that in lieu of flowers,
contributions be made to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church or American
Heart Association through the funeral home.
